75 years of building Amsterdam. Time for a website that tells that story.

The situation
ZZDP was everywhere in the city. Online, you barely saw it.
The Rembrandttoren, Holland Park and the Dreeftoren on the Zuidas: ZZDP has helped shape Amsterdam for 75 years. Yet many people had no idea which firm was behind those buildings, and the old website did little to change that.
Visitors rarely explored the projects. New commissions mostly came through existing relationships, while the website played almost no role. Anyone who only knew ZZDP online saw a firm that appeared far smaller than it really was, despite its dozens of completed projects, long history and loyal clients.
The new website brings that full story together: the buildings, the people, the way the firm works and the experience it has built over 75 years.

The old website mainly showed what ZZDP had built. The new website also reveals the thinking behind every project.
Projects now offer more than a series of images. They explain the original idea, how the building took shape and the impact it has had. This helps different visitors find what they need more quickly.
A prospective client can assess whether ZZDP is the right fit for a project or tender. Prospective talent gets a clear picture of the firm and how it works. A journalist looking for the architects behind the Dreeftoren finds the answer immediately.

We started with the people who use the website and why they visit.
ZZDP serves three groups, each with different needs. Clients want to know whether the firm is right for their project. Prospective talent wants to see what it could work on and how the firm operates. The wider market often already knows the buildings, but not yet the name behind them.
Those needs shaped the structure. The projects section comes first, showing what the firm is capable of. The About us section gives space to the people, approach and history behind the work. Stories keeps the website current by giving existing content a permanent home, while a dedicated careers section gives prospective talent a clear entry point.

The navigation is built around a series of coloured tabs that remain in the same position throughout the site. Inspired by bookmarks and archive dividers, they create a fixed point of orientation on every page.
The reference to ZZDP's archive and history is subtle, while the menu remains immediately recognisable and practical. Each section has its own colour, so visitors always know where they are.

A building is difficult to understand from final images alone. That is why every project explains where it began, which choices shaped it and the impact it ultimately had.
The consistent structure gives visitors a clear framework while allowing every project to retain its own character.
Colour-coded tags let visitors filter by project type and location. Projects without a full case study appear in a compact overview, ensuring the wider body of work remains easy to find.
