Digital designer

Kill off the average™. That applies to our strategy, our brands, and every pixel we send into the world. As a Digital designer you make sure the brands we build hit just as hard digitally as they do on paper. You design websites and platforms where strategy and identity come together. You think along from the concept, work with brand designers and developers, and make sure every digital touchpoint feels like a deliberate choice.

Part-time or full-time · Eindhoven · €3,400 - €4,180

We build brands that claim their space. Digital is where that space becomes visible.

Stuurmen is a branding agency for B2B companies at a turning point. We give direction, force choices, and build brands organisations can stand behind. Strategy sets the course, identity makes it visible.

But a brand that only exists on paper claims nothing. Digital is where people encounter your brand, form an opinion, and decide whether you matter.

We're looking for a Digital designer who understands that. Someone who translates strategic choices into digital experiences that feel like every detail was placed with intent. Whether you're junior with a portfolio that surprises us, medior with proven projects, or senior with a track record that speaks for itself: we look at quality, not your title.

You're not the type who waits for a briefing and then designs what's asked. You think along, push back, and understand that good digital design starts with understanding why a brand exists.

Think before you ink, Risk it for the biscuit, No bullshit bingo, Lead by example. Those are our values. They drive everything we do, from client conversations to collaboration. Expect sharpness, not theatre.

But here's what you'll actually do

  • Translate brand strategy and identity into digital experiences that click. Visually, but also in how they feel, move and work.

Design websites, landing pages and platforms for brands that claim their space.

Think in systems. Design systems, components, auto-layout. You build the foundations for scalable design.

Push the boundaries of what's digitally possible. Micro-interactions, scroll animations, page transitions. You know what's possible and when it makes the story stronger.

Work with developers and make sure your designs can actually be built. And no, "just make it responsive" is not a handoff.

Explain your design choices. The why just as much as the what.

Keep a sharp eye on the digital design world and bring new inspiration, trends and techniques to the team.

Contribute in sessions. Not to take notes, but to be present.

This is you

  • You have Kill off the average™ carved into your DNA.

  • You think from the brand outward. A good website starts with understanding the organisation behind it.

  • You have at least 2 years of relevant work experience as a digital designer, preferably at an agency. We're not looking for a starter, but someone who's already carried multiple projects from start to finish and understands how branding, strategy and digital come together.

  • You know Figma like the back of your hand. Typography, colour, layout and motion: you have a sharp eye for it.

  • You understand how design and development come together. You don't need to code, but you understand what's technically possible and what's not.

  • You're curious about the client's business and think proactively about how design contributes to it.

  • You're available for 32-40 hours a week.

  • Strong oral and written English communication skills.

You deliver direction, not decoration. You know when to push and when the design speaks for itself. Not a trend hopper, not a designer who runs on compliments, and definitely not someone who thinks making a visual impression is the same as making a brand stronger.

What we might value most: you keep surprising, inspiring and challenging yourself, us and our clients.

Nice-to-haves, not a must

  • You've won an SOTD or FWA. Or you're determined this is your year.

  • You have experience with motion design for digital. How much depends on your seniority level, but you can design animations and interactions that you can hand off clearly to developers.

  • You experiment with AI tools to generate images, visuals and concepts we can use in brand and digital design.

  • You can add to the Stuurmen Spotify playlist without a single skip.

Maybe you're not (yet) a senior, but you do have an opinion. And the guts to back it up.

After 3 months

  • You've worked on at least two digital projects that we and the client are proud of.

  • You've called out our current digital designer verbally at least once. Figuratively, obviously.

  • You've shown in sessions that you think along, challenge, and push forward.

  • You've shown you're a maker with an opinion.

  • You deliver consistently. On time, within scope, without anyone having to chase you.

  • You've noticeably raised the bar for digital design within Stuurmen.
